Dr. Melissa Simmons Bio
Dr. Melissa Simmons built her foundation for her career as an auditor for Peat Marwick & Main and manager for Frye Williams & Co. which opened the door for her school administrator career as she managed clients in New Jersey such as Jersey City Public Schools, Newark Public Schools, East Orange Public Schools, Orange Public Schools and Plainfield Public Schools to name a few.
She went on to become the auditor for the Paterson Public Schools and Jersey City Public Schools in New Jersey. Dr. Simmons decided to advance her career and became a certified school business administrator (CFO/COO), and went on to be the Business Administrator (BA) for various school districts in New Jersey.
Women’s Leadership Initiative in collaboration with her brand “Girl Boss’d Up”. This leadership initiative provided monthly leadership workshops and seminars for women in all facets of business that promoted encouragement, empowerment and leadership skills building to better and more effective leaders in all settings that we lead in. Women of various levels including secretaries, managers, superintendents, church leaders and pastors all participated in these workshops. Currently, Girl Boss’d Up is working on business and leadership development for various clients and is about to host a leadership development certification program for upcoming women leaders in business and education.
Her and her husband, Lamont Simmons, co-authored “The 5 Rules of Marriage” and grew their own marriage ministry of 25 years name “And2 Marriage Ministry. This ministry for 21 years allowed Lamont and Melissa to lead annual marriage retreats, host marriage building events and for three years hosted a virtual show called the “Marriage Call”. They have been guest hosts at numerous marriage conferences and recently was featured guest on the “Whole Living Show” and “FEM Talk” on e360tv found on ROKU.
Although her role as Business Administrator (BA) is a busy one, Dr. Simmons believes in giving back and serving as a voice to those that are looking to know how to be successful in business and life. She has served on the educational and conference committees for the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials Bergen County Association of School Officials. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Simmons Consulting and Creative Executive Director of “Girl Boss’d Up”; she is a certified Mentor and Coach (Breakthrough University) and a Registered Mentor for NJASBO. She has recently earned her doctorate in Christian Leadership and Business from Exousia University. In summary, Dr. Simmons is the author of “The 5 Rules of Marriage” and Co-Author of “Women Empowering Women” #1 on Amazon new book list in July 2018 and is about “Girl Boss’d Up 30-Day Journal” in March 2023 on Amazon. Lastly, she serves as one of 4 host on the popular streaming talk show FEM Talk on e360tv on your ROKU device which is in its 4th season.
